At its core, it shares the engineering and technology with the same model year Vulcan 900 Custom, but with more modern and aggressive colors and accents to stress out the Special Edition character.

Features worth mentioning are the chromed headlamp, a front fender that arches around almost half of the wheel, wide, easy-to-turn handlebars, forward-mounted footpegs, a one-piece style seat and a standard toe-operated shift lever.
